There are 21 letters in the Italian language. However, it is a romance language of the Indo-European Language family. It is spoken by about 85 million people. It is the official language in Italy, Switzerland (Ticino and Grisons), San Marino, and Vatican City. It has also an official minority status in western Istria (Croatia and Slovenia).
